Is social media and online dating ready to merge? We’ve read a fair amount how people use sites like Facebook to meet others, but how can you really know who you’re meeting based on what they write on their wall? Social media sites don’t offer much of the info you might find on a dating website to help you short list what you would probably consider to be a good match.
Although the social media sites can provide insight to people’s personality and their lives, in a way it removes the privacy of dating sites and opens the floodgates for stalking. There is also the safety aspect, as most social media profiles will contain enough info on their city, places they frequent, and possibly places they work. It’s important to protect your anonimity online, and what you reveal on a social media or social network site can be to much info.
Social dating might seem ideal on the surface, but the lack of effective search, matching capabilites, and more seem to make what seems like the perfect marriage quickly fall apart.
